Roots and Canopy Agroforestry is a youth-led social enterprise working with rural smallholder farmers to restore degraded landscapes through incentivized agroforestry.
We promote the integration of indigenous trees with cocoa and coffee, creating opportunities for farmers to earn medium-term livelihoods while establishing and maintaining trees that contribute to long-term environmental restoration.
Our approach connects livelihood improvement with landscape restoration, enabling farmers to benefit economically while building healthier, more productive, and more resilient landscapes for future generations.
Raise Quality Indigenous Tree Seedlings
We raise healthy, high-quality indigenous tree seedlings suited to local conditions. Our seedlings are carefully managed through hardening, root pruning, grading, and sorting to give farmers strong planting materials with a better chance of establishment and long-term survival.
Restore Land Through Agroforestry
We help smallholder farmers integrate indigenous trees with cocoa and coffee on their farms. We promote species such as Albizia coriaria and Cordia africana alongside cocoa and Grevillea robusta in coffee systems, helping restore degraded land while improving soil health, providing shade, protecting crops, and creating future sources of income.
Farmer trainings through farmer field schools
We work alongside farmers through practical training and field-based support. Farmers learn about agroforestry, tree establishment, planting timing, farm management, and long-term tree care so they can confidently manage productive and resilient agroforestry systems.
